— 6lack has been on an incredible run since the release of his sophomore album, East Atlanta Love Letter. Now, he’s released a visual for “Pretty Little Fears”, featuring Dreamville’s J. Cole, that holds your attention hostage for about 4 minutes.
If you hadn’t been paying attention, it seems that 6lack has elevated to such a status that he simply cannot lose. And, while that’s never the case for any artist, the amount of effort and consistency that 6lack puts into his already transparent artistry almost makes that observation true. With his most recent release, East Atlanta Love Letter, topping the R&B charts and debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200, 6lack continues to cement his superstardom and it’s clear that he’s not letting up anytime soon.
Although minimalistic and non-conceptual, the scenery, angles, and color used in the imagery subtly demand your attention and discourages you from even blinking. The “Pretty Little Fears” music video, directed by Matthew Dillon Cohen, ran through a series of shots of 6lack hanging out with his lady in a number of secluded, yet oddly romantic locations. The same occurs when J. Cole takes over as he converses with his own significant other on a lonely road just before they stroll through an eerily empty carnival.
