— Coming fresh off the release of his third studio album, Big D.O.L.L.A, Portland Trailblazers All-Star Damian Lillard has shared his desire to win a Grammy award.

As the saying goes, “ball players want to be rappers and rappers want to be ball players”. The bad news is that most people on either side lack the actual skills to cross over to the other. But, every once in a while, we get a talent such as Damian Lillard, A.K.A Dame D.O.L.L.A, and we have to legitimately give credit where it’s due. Dame is easily one of the most elite players in the NBA and he’s also got BARS… but are they Grammy worthy?

In a recent interview with TMZ, Dame stated that when all is said and done, he’d love to have a Grammy under his belt, or at the very least, a performance at the BET Awards. Lucky for us, we get to see a current showcase of his musical talents since his latest album, Big D.O.L.L.A, was just released this past Friday.

Big D.O.L.L.A was released through Dame’s independent record label, Front Page Music and includes features from well-known artists like Lil Wayne, Jeremih, and Mozzy. The album also features his own artists Brookfield Duece and Danny from Sobrante.

— Atlanta Hip-Hop artist and entrepreneur, 2 Chainz, prepares to take a major leap into the sports industry as the Atlanta Hawks have announced his plans to join the ownership group of their NBA G-League Affiliate team.

Anyone who has been a fan of 2 Chainz over the course of his 22 year music career knows that he is also an avid basketball fan. As a sophomore, the 6’5’’ rapper lead his North Clayton High School basketball team to a championship in 1993 before going on to play at Alabama State University on a basketball scholarship. In fact his latest album, Rap or Go to the League, was heavily influenced by his love of the game, even recording a song titled “NCAA” and recruiting Lebron James himself as its executive producer. Now, 2 Chainz has stepped even further into the basketball world as he becomes part owner of a new hometown team.

The Atlanta Hawks have recently announced that the College Park native has agreed to join the ownership team of their new NBA G-League affiliate, the College Park Skyhawks. 2 Chainz will be joining a group led by Principal Owner, Tony Ressler as well as Vice Chair of the Board and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Grant Hill.

When speaking on this new endeavor, 2 Chainz stated,

“It’s exciting and a dream come TRU to be a part of a sports team, especially one in my community… Being able to give back, create opportunities for the youth, inspire and show people what you can do if you believe in yourself and work hard makes this opportunity so meaningful to me.”

This isn’t 2 Chainz’s first collaboration with the Atlanta Hawks. He has actually performed for the Hawk’s popular in-game concert series in both 2015 and 2016 — each time releasing special co-branded merchandise which came to become best selling items at the arena.

The College Park Skyhawks will begin play for the 2019-2020 season at the brand new Gateway Center @ College Park. The multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue will seat 5,000 for special events and 3,500 for Skyhawks basketball games.
