When you combine one of the industry’s most sensual voices, Tory Lanez, with sampling from the crème de la crème of R&B hits made in the 2000s, what you get is a straight-laced, chart-topper: Chixtape 5.

Following months on-end of fans awaiting the well-hyped album, the Interscope Records‘ artist, “a proud student of 2000s R&B,” finally launched his exclusive project, an 18-track album dedicated to remaking the greats from the 2000s, and in less than two weeks from the release date of Chixtape 5, Tory Lanez crowns the second spot on the new Billboard 200 (right after Celine Dion).

Not only does Lanez remake the greats, he features the artists who birthed them. Chixtape 5 sees immaculate, honey-dipped links track-after-track between Tory Lanez and each original artist stepping in on the new remake of their classic.

Chixtape 5 features Jagged Edge, Jermaine Dupri, T-Pain, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, Lloyd, Lil WayneChris Brown, Ludacris, Mýa, The-Dream, Mario, Trey Songz, Fabolous, Slim & Nyce… do we need to say more?

After enduring  a  “trash” relationship with Def Jam Recordings, which threw his third studio album into limbo, August Alsina has finally returned – solo, and ready to heat things up.

It’s the end of an era with Def Jam and the beginning of something new for Alsina – freedom. Finally “free, Alsina now debuts as an independent artist in the all-new single “Like You Love Me“, making major steam with a sultry music video to suit, while proving he’s all set to Shake the World – the name of his very own record label.

If you vibe to alternative R&B, feeling the sounds of Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez, Jacquees, and Jeremih, to name a few, then your ears are yet to experience the pure passion and poise that Alsina delivers – one well-oiled single at a time.

Whether or not Alsina releases his next album anytime soon, one thing’s certain – “Like You Love Me” is sure to affix to your love-making playlist.

In the spirit of Friday the 13th last weekend, New York City wordsmiths, Fabolous and Jadakiss, decided to release a new track titled, “Rapture”. The track will be featured on their upcoming joint project and it includes vocals from Tory Lanez on the chorus.

Vinylz and Cam O’Bi provided the sampled production by putting a spin on Anita Baker’s 1986 hit, “Caught Up in the Rapture”, and (as you would expect) Fabolous and Jadakiss delivered their trademark punchlines and wordplay in order to make the song complete.

Fabolous has clearly been hard at work seeing that his joint project with Trey Songz, Trappy New Year, was recently released as was the music video for their remix to YFN Lucci’s 2016 hit, “Key to the Streets”.

Check out “Rapture” as well as the trailer for Freddy vs. Jason, below:
