Atlantic Records‘ fresh-faced rapper-singer and songwriter, YBN Cordae, stupefies listeners with his debut solo album The Lost Boy– a bona fide and impassioned project well beyond his years.
YBN Cordae, born Cordae Amari Dunston, first made a name for himself as part of the YBN gang, the young “internet rap clique” that went viral. Now, Cordae rightly sets him self apart as an independent artist with the very aptitude to rewrite the rules of the game.
Cordae is undeniably unique by nature, flipping the switch from witty (“RNP” feat. Anderson .Paak) and somewhat comical, to gritty and gripping (“Broke as F**k“), everywhere from spitting full-hearted bars (“Nightmares Are Real” feat. Pusha T) , to delving into soul with mellow vocals; this is one upcoming artist the industry’s bound to watch.
The Lost Boyalso features Chance the Rapper, Ty Dolla $ign, Meek Mill, and Arin Ray.
J. Cole, together with fellow Dreamville Records‘ artists EARTHGANG, Ari Lennox, J.I.D, Omen, Cozz, Bas, and Lute, present Revenge of The Dreamers III, and it’s nothing but the dreamcompilation we’ve all been waiting for.
Dreamville Records, founded by J. Cole and his manager Ibrahim Hamad, has finally released the next chapter, a long-awaited follow-up to part II(2015). The album also features guest artists Kendrick Lamar, Buddy, Ty Dolls $ign, Vince Staples, Dreezy, and much more greatness.
Revenge of The Dreamers III (ROTD3) is the ultimate euphoria for hip-hop and alternative R&B fans alike, placing listeners within a realm of rapture; an epic line-up of astounding artists, an unrivalled lyrical flow, bustling bars, heavy-hitting hooks, fresh beats, honey-like melodies, and of course, topped off with the quintessential soul samples to have you hypnotised from the very start until end.
This 18-track marvel is simply incalculable; the procured result of both a collaboration and a community of artists that no one other than J. Cole could bring together.
Thundercat isn’t a household name quite yet, but with his prodigious talent, superstar co-signs, and a Grammy under his belt it would be wise to hop on the bandwagon now rather than later. The 25 year old bass guitarist, producer, and singer has worked with top-notch artists such as Erykah Badu, Childish Gambino,Vic Mensa, Mac Miller, Flying Lotus, and Ty Dolla Sign while earning his Grammy from work he did on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly.
Now, Kendrick Lamar is returning the favor as he lends a helping hand to Thundercat’s upcoming project, Drunk. Alongside K-Dot, we will have features from Pharrell, Wiz, and Classic Rock/R&B artists Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins. Of the featured artists, Thundercat recently expressed the most excitement about working with Pharrell during a XXL interview when he said, “He’s been my hero since I was a young kid . . . and I got a chance to tell him that”.
Drunk is set to be released on February 24th and will be Thundercat’s first project since 2015’s The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam.
Thundercat has also released the single “Show You The Way” and an official track listing for Drunk. You can check out both below.
